The twelfth round of the Yelo League for First Division Professional Clubs concluded today, Sunday, with the Saudi stadiums witnessing fiery encounters that resulted in fundamental changes in the top of the standings, most notably the strong rise of Al-Ula Club towards the runner-up position in the league, and the stumble of its direct competitor, Al-Orouba Club.
Al-Ula strikes hard and chases the lead
In one of the most exciting matches of the round, Al-Ula secured a resounding and well-deserved victory over their guests, Al-Jandal, with a score of 5-1, in a match held at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Stadium. The game witnessed a remarkable performance from star player "Colores," who cemented his status as the hero of the match by scoring a hat-trick in the 8th, 45+4th, and 75th minutes, reaffirming his prowess in the team's attack.
Al-Ula's attacking machine didn't stop there; Fahad Al-Jumai'ah extended their lead with a goal in the 33rd minute, followed by Ayman Al-Khalif's goal in the 38th minute, reflecting the team's attacking versatility and individual brilliance this season. Meanwhile, Al-Jandal managed only a consolation goal, scored by Ayoub Lakhdar in the 29th minute.
Al-Arabi falls into the trap of a draw
Meanwhile, in Al-Jawf, Al-Orouba disappointed their fans after being held to a goalless draw (0-0) by visiting Al-Raed. Despite persistent attempts to snatch the points, the visitors' solid defense prevented any change to the scoreline. This draw proved costly for Al-Orouba, as it dropped them to third place with 24 points, allowing Al-Ula to seize second place.
The Yellow League has evolved and the competition is heating up
These results come amidst an exceptional season for the Yelo League, which has witnessed remarkable development in both its technical and organizational levels, bolstered by the recruitment of high-caliber local and international players. Al-Ula's rise to second place with 25 points, just one point behind league leaders Abha, is a testament to the success of the club's sporting project, which aims to secure its place among the elite in the Roshan League.
This season's matches are doubly important due to the close points standings of the leading clubs, as the struggle for promotion now requires patience and not giving up easy points, which Al-Ula realized in this round, while Al-Oruba failed to do so.
League standings and other matches
With today's results, the battle at the top of the table intensifies, with Abha leading the way, closely followed by Al-Ula and then Al-Orouba. Al-Jandal remains stuck on 15 points in eleventh place, while Al-Raed climbs to seventh with 20 points. The excitement continues with other matches, including Jeddah hosting Abha in a game that could significantly alter the standings, while Al-Zulfi travels to face Al-Diriyah.
