The National Center for Meteorology forecasts continued thunderstorms across the Kingdom on Thursday, and strong, dust-raising winds. These conditions will cause near-zero visibility in parts of the Eastern Province, Riyadh, Madinah, Makkah, Al-Baha, and Asir.
Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in parts of the Northern Borders, Al-Jawf, Tabuk, Hail, Al-Qassim, Jazan, and Najran regions, with a chance of fog in some areas.
There remains a possibility of snowfall in parts of the Tabuk highlands.
Red Sea
Surface winds: Northwesterly to westerly in the northern part, and southwesterly to northwesterly in the central and southern parts at a speed of 30-60 km/h, reaching more than 65 km/h with the formation of rain-bearing thunderclouds.
Wave height: from 1.5 meters to 3 meters, reaching over 3 meters with the formation of rain-bearing thunderclouds.
Sea state: Moderate to rough.
Arabian Gulf
Surface winds: Southeasterly to southerly at a speed of 25-55 km/h, reaching more than 60 km/h with the formation of rain-bearing thunderclouds.
Wave height: from one and a half meters to two meters, reaching more than two meters with the formation of rain-bearing thunderclouds.
Sea state: Moderate to rough seas with the formation of rain-bearing thunderclouds.
Heavy rain in the Eastern Province
The National Center for Meteorology issued a “red alert” in its weather heavy rain in parts of the eastern region on Thursday.
The phenomenon begins at 11 am in some places, and 1 pm in others, and continues until 9 pm.
The warning includes: Hafr Al-Batin, Khafji, Nairyah, Qaryat Al-Ulya, Al-Ahsa, Al-Udayd, Abqaiq, Jubail, Khobar, Dammam, Dhahran, Qatif, and Ras Tanura.
The rain will be accompanied by strong winds, reduced horizontal visibility, hail, flash floods, and thunderstorms.
