The National Center for Meteorology issued today important weather alerts regarding the expected weather conditions in several regions, most notably the Tabuk and Al-Baha regions, stressing the need to exercise caution due to weather fluctuations that may affect horizontal visibility and the safety of travel.
Weather details in the Tabuk region
In its daily report, the center explained that the Tabuk region is experiencing active surface winds stirring up dust and sand. This includes the city of Tabuk and the Tayma governorate. The report indicated that the accompanying effects include a significant decrease in horizontal visibility, ranging between 1 and 3 kilometers, requiring drivers on highways and open roads to exercise caution. The center stated that this weather condition is expected to continue, God willing, until 6:00 PM today.
Thunderstorms and reduced visibility in the Al-Baha region
On the other hand, the National Center for Meteorology warned of moderate to heavy rainfall in the Al-Baha region. This includes the city of Al-Baha, as well as the governorates of Baljurashi, Al-Qura, Bani Hassan, and Al-Mandaq, and surrounding areas. The rain will be accompanied by strong surface winds, reduced horizontal visibility due to fog or heavy downpours, and the possibility of thunderstorms. The center confirmed that this rainy weather will continue until 8:00 PM.
The importance of warnings and public safety guidelines
These alerts are part of the vital role played by the National Center for Meteorology in monitoring climate changes and protecting lives and property. These warnings are particularly important in mountainous areas like Al-Baha, where the rugged terrain increases the risk of flash floods and vehicles skidding during rainfall. Open areas in Tabuk are also conducive to the formation of dust storms, which can affect those with respiratory conditions and disrupt traffic.
In this context, the relevant authorities, including the Civil Defense, call on citizens and residents to adhere to the following instructions:
- Avoid speeding while driving in dusty or rainy weather.
- Stay away from flood channels and valleys in the Al-Baha region and do not risk crossing them.
- The use of face masks for asthma and respiratory patients in dust-affected areas of Tabuk.
- Follow weather updates through the official channels of the National Center for Meteorology.
It is worth noting that the Kingdom experiences continuous weather fluctuations at this time of year, which reinforces the importance of the early warning system followed by the center to ensure that accurate information reaches the public and relevant government agencies in a timely manner.
