The National Center for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia issued an important alert for residents of the Al-Jawf region, warning of weather fluctuations that will directly affect horizontal visibility and road safety. These warnings are part of the ongoing monitoring of weather conditions across the Kingdom to ensure the safety of citizens and residents.

Weather details in Al-Jawf region

The National Center for Meteorology explained that the Al-Jawf region will experience active surface winds stirring up dust and sand, leading to near-zero horizontal visibility, with the expected range between 1 and 3 kilometers. This weather condition includes the city of Sakaka , as well as the governorates of Dumat Al-Jandal, Al-Qurayyat, and Tabuk .

According to the weather report, the effects of this weather system will begin at 3:00 AM on Tuesday and continue until 7:00 PM that same day. These northern regions of the Kingdom are prone to such dust storms due to their open geography and their susceptibility to passing low-pressure systems.

Dense fog in the eastern region

In conjunction with the dust storm in the north, the center also warned of fog formation across large parts of the Eastern Province, urging caution while driving in the early morning hours. The warning included the governorates of Jubail, Khobar, Dammam, Dhahran, Qatif, Ras Tanura, and others .

The fog phenomenon began at 11 pm on Monday and continued until 7 am on Tuesday, which had a relative impact on traffic on highways and coastal roads.

The importance of warnings and safety measures

These warnings are of paramount importance given the strategic location of the Al-Jawf region, through which international highways connect the Kingdom with neighboring countries pass, posing a real danger to motorists. Authorities urge drivers to exercise caution, reduce speed, and use headlights in such conditions to ensure clear visibility.

Doctors and specialists also advise respiratory and asthma patients to avoid direct exposure to dusty conditions, to stay indoors as much as possible during the warning period, and to use medical masks when necessary to go out, in order to reduce the negative health effects that may be caused by dust particles suspended in the air.
