The context of financing and the importance of debt instruments
Waja's move towards issuing sukuk comes as part of Saudi companies' strategies to diversify their funding sources and reduce their reliance on traditional bank financing or raising capital through equity. Islamic sukuk are considered a vital tool that provides companies with the necessary liquidity to finance their expansion projects and support working capital, thereby enhancing their financial solvency and competitiveness in the market.
The role of financial technology and Vision 2030
This offering through the "Sukuk Finance" platform reflects the significant development witnessed by the financial sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in line with the objectives of Vision 2030 and the Financial Sector Development Program. These programs aim to deepen the debt instruments market and encourage fintech companies to provide innovative solutions that facilitate the issuance and subscription of sukuk, making them accessible to a wider range of individual investors and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Financial technology platforms authorized by the Capital Market Authority play a pivotal role in connecting issuers (companies seeking funding) directly with investors, reducing administrative costs and accelerating the financial coverage process, as clearly demonstrated by the fact that “Waga” company resorted to this option to raise the necessary funding for its operations.
