On the research front, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Research at the university conducted six specialized field studies during Ramadan. These studies addressed vital sectors including transportation, crowd management, the built environment, and the visitor experience. Efforts included monitoring environmental risks in the Haram area, assessing the compliance of pilgrim accommodations with approved standards, and evaluating the operational efficiency of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system. Modeling and simulation techniques were also employed to optimize vehicle movement and measure the quality of trolley services within the Grand Mosque.
A volunteer epic and integrated health programs
In the realm of volunteer work, university members set a remarkable example, with 2,591 students, staff, and faculty members contributing 54,850 volunteer hours across health, security, and guidance sectors. In a related initiative, the College of Medicine launched the "Systematic Umrah" program, which engaged students from health colleges through three tracks: a foot patrol to provide first aid (605 students), a hospital-based clinical training track (433 students), and a health awareness track (63 students).
Technological innovation and the revitalization of historical sites
In support of innovation, the university, in partnership with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, organized the third edition of the "Historical and Cultural Sites Hackathon" to utilize modern technologies in serving pilgrims. The King Salman Chair for Makkah History Studies also offered specialized workshops. To ensure high-quality performance, the Hajj and Umrah Research Institute launched 23 training programs for frontline workers to enhance their preparedness and efficiency.

Culturally, the university's cultural center welcomed over 4,000 visitors during Ramadan, who viewed heritage artifacts reflecting the rich cultural legacy of Mecca. The President of Umm Al-Qura University, Professor Dr. Maadi bin Mohammed Al-Mathhab, affirmed that this integrated system of research, volunteering, and training enhances the university's leading role. He pointed out that these achievements come in fulfillment of the directives of the wise leadership, with the support of His Excellency the Minister of Education, and the attention of the Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Governor of Makkah Region, and His Highness the Deputy Governor, to elevate the level of services provided at the Two Holy Mosques.
