The US military announced Thursday that the United States has struck nearly 6,000 targets since the start of the war with Iran on February 28. Central Command (CENTCOM), responsible for US forces in the region, said that among these targets were approximately 90 Iranian vessels, 30 of which were allegedly used for laying mines. The Central Command (CENTCOM), which is responsible for US forces in the region, said that among those targets were about ninety Iranian vessels, 30 of which were intended for laying mines.

Strait of Hormuz

On the other hand, Iran’s deputy foreign minister told AFP on Thursday that Iran is not planting mines in the Strait of Hormuz, the world’s strategic oil passage, following accusations made by Washington in this regard.

Majid Takht-Ravanchi, responding to a question about statements by President Donald Trump in which he spoke of strikes against Iranian ships planting mines, said, “This is not true, absolutely not.”.

The Iranian official explained that countries had requested permission for their ships to cross the strait and that they had “cooperated with them”.
