In a remarkable sporting and community achievement, "Team Saudi" announced the success of its national "Burn Them" campaign, surpassing the 100 million calorie mark ahead of its planned end date at the end of this year. Launched on September 1st, the initiative witnessed widespread participation across more than 140 cities, governorates, and centers throughout Saudi Arabia, reflecting the growing sporting movement in the country.
Statistics released by the team revealed that participation was not limited to a specific group, but rather encompassed various age groups and social strata. Male participation reached 63%, while female participation was strong at 37%. This demographic distribution is a positive indicator of the growing base of sports practitioners and those interested in public health within Saudi society, which aligns with modern trends promoting healthy lifestyles.
Supporting the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030
This achievement cannot be separated from the broader context of the Kingdom's transformation, as the "Burn Them" campaign is an integral part of the objectives of Vision 2030, specifically the Quality of Life Program. This ambitious program aims to increase the rate of physical activity in society and reduce the levels of physical inactivity that have posed a significant health challenge in recent years. The Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee plays a pivotal role in this context, not only by supporting elite sports but also by promoting community sports and making them a daily lifestyle for citizens and residents.
Digital transformation in the sports sector
In a related context, the statement issued today, Wednesday, highlighted the digital success accompanying the campaign, as the “Team Saudi” application recorded more than 169,000 downloads since its launch in September 2024. This number reflects the increasing demand for digital solutions provided by the sports system, as the application is an interactive platform that allows users to register their interests, follow the latest developments in their favorite sports, and participate in challenges.
This trend confirms the success of the digital transformation strategy adopted by Saudi sports institutions, where technology has become an enabling and key factor in motivating the public and connecting them to physical activities, which facilitates the measurement and monitoring process and creates a healthy competitive environment among members of society.
