On an exceptional night that transformed the skies of the Saudi capital into a vibrant work of art, the sixth edition of the Soundstorm 2025 Festival, organized by MDLBEAST, kicked off. The first day saw thousands of local and international visitors flock to the festival site in Banban to witness the launch of what is considered the largest music event in the Middle East and North Africa region, featuring more than 80 international and regional artists.
Historical development and global standing
Soundstorm is no longer just a passing music festival; since its inception in 2019, it has transformed into a cultural and tourism phenomenon aligned with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, specifically the Quality of Life Program. Over its six years, the festival has successfully placed Riyadh on the global entertainment map, competing with major international festivals in Europe and America, not only in terms of audience size but also by attracting leading names in the music industry and showcasing innovative stage technologies.
A spectacular start and world-class performances
The festival opened with a completely redesigned venue, featuring international superstars Benson Boone and Post Malone on the Big Beast stage, the event's main and largest venue. They were joined by the legendary Swedish House Mafia, delivering a dazzling audiovisual experience that showcased the incredible advancements in sound and lighting technology this year.
A complete musical city
This year, the festival site underwent its biggest restructuring in history, transforming into a self-contained city that facilitates visitor movement between 14 diverse stages. In the western zone, the Tunnel Stage emerged as a premier destination for techno and dance music enthusiasts, supported by new stages such as Port, Plexiglas, and Greenhouse. Performances by DJ Snake, Calvin Harris, and Don Diablo ignited the crowds, highlighting the musical diversity the festival is committed to offering.
Supporting local talent and quality initiatives
As part of its support for national talent, the new “Taq” theater in the Eastern Province has shone brightly, providing an ideal platform for Saudi and Gulf artists. The theater witnessed a wide audience response to the performances of Dahoum Al-Talasi, Ayed, and Ibrahim Al-Sultan, reflecting the success of MDLBEAST’s strategy in combining local talent with international stars in a single event.
The festival also enhanced the visitor experience through the “Her Space” initiative dedicated to women, which returned this year with a larger size and more comprehensive facilities, including 8 private viewing areas, rest lounges, and dedicated paths extending for more than 2,300 meters, to ensure privacy and comfort.
Cultural and economic impact
Soundstorm 2025 is expected to break records in visitor numbers and economic returns, contributing to the revitalization of Riyadh's hospitality, transportation, and tourism sectors. The festival also featured notable cultural collaborations, most prominently the partnership between Soundstorm and Italian football club Inter Milan, embodied by artist Francis Mercier on the "Log" stage, blending the passion of football with the magic of music.
The excitement continues in the coming days, as fans look forward to huge shows on Friday night, including performances by the international star Pitbull, and joint shows between Metro Boomin and DJ Snake, promising a historic weekend in the heart of the Saudi capital.
