Learn about the steps to process a rejected or pending payment in social security, and how to resume payment and verify the bank IBAN to ensure the continuation of monthly support.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, through its Social Security platform, has clarified the official procedures and steps required to address cases of rejected or suspended payments, which often result from issues related to verifying the beneficiary's bank account number (IBAN). This clarification comes as part of the Ministry's commitment to ensuring that support reaches those entitled to it without delay.

Steps to handle a rejected payment

The Social Security platform, through its official account on the "X" platform, revealed the correct mechanism for correcting the situation and restoring support, stressing the need to follow the following steps precisely:

  • Resume Payment: The beneficiary must log in to the platform and select the "Resume Payment" icon instead of submitting a new request.
  • Do not delete the request: The platform warned against deleting the account or withdrawing the existing request, as this may lead to delays in procedures or retroactive loss of entitlement.
  • IBAN verification: Make sure that the registered IBAN number is linked to the beneficiary's identity, and that the bank account is active and not frozen to avoid money transfer rejections.
  • Filing a financial complaint: If the problem persists after implementing the previous steps, the beneficiary must file a financial complaint through the platform to have the case considered individually.

Enhanced social security: The context of digital transformation

The enhanced social security system is part of the social protection framework outlined in the Kingdom's Vision 2030, with the Ministry aiming to shift from dependency to productivity. The new system relies on precise digital mechanisms to verify data with relevant entities (such as banks, civil affairs departments, and real estate authorities) to ensure that Zakat funds and government support are directed to those most in need.

The IBAN verification step is considered an essential part of the program’s financial governance, as these procedures prevent any disruption in monthly deposits and ensure financial transparency, which enhances the efficiency of government spending in direct support programs.

Documents required to prove residence

In a related matter concerning eligibility requirements, the program reiterated the approved documents for proving independent housing, which is a prerequisite for receiving support in certain categories. Accepted documents include the following:

  • Electronic lease agreement documented via the "Ejar" platform.
  • The property deed is in the name of the beneficiary.
  • A residence certificate issued by an accredited government agency (for residents in housing belonging to their employers or the state).

The importance of the program and its societal impact

Social security generally aims to provide financial support and empower beneficiaries to achieve financial independence. The program covers a wide range of segments of society, including the most vulnerable families, the elderly, and orphans, regardless of marital status or gender, provided they meet the eligibility requirements and specified financial criteria. This support contributes to strengthening the social and economic stability of Saudi families and ensuring them a decent standard of living amidst economic changes.
