As part of the ongoing field efforts by security authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to promote environmental compliance and protect natural resources, the Special Security and Protection Forces were able to apprehend two residents who violated the environmental regulations in the Tabuk region.

The authorities explained that the two violators are residents of Egyptian and Sudanese nationalities. The relevant authorities confirmed that the necessary legal procedures have been completed against the violators, and they have been referred to the competent authorities for the application of the prescribed penalties.

Enhancing environmental security within Vision 2030

This security operation comes as a reflection of the growing attention that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia pays to the issue of environmental protection, which is one of the main pillars of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. Recent years have witnessed a radical shift in dealing with environmental issues, represented by the establishment of special forces for environmental security and security and protection forces, and the updating of strict legislation that criminalizes tampering with nature.

These efforts aim to preserve vegetation cover, prevent soil erosion, and protect natural resources from overexploitation. The Tabuk region, with its unique topography and mega-projects, is considered one of the vital areas subject to intensive monitoring to ensure the sustainability of its natural environment.

The dangers of exploiting sediments and soil erosion

Sedimentary exploitation and soil erosion are serious violations that negatively impact the ecological balance. These practices destroy the topsoil, contributing to increased desertification, exacerbating dust storms, and harming wildlife and plant life in the region. The Special Security and Protection Forces are working resolutely to combat these practices to ensure a healthy environment for future generations.

Environmental violation reporting figures

The Special Security and Protection Forces called on all citizens and residents to cooperate with security authorities and immediately report any incidents of environmental or wildlife abuse. They clarified that reports can be made via the following numbers:
