The Saudi Arabian Scouts Association continues its noble humanitarian and volunteer mission, with its Public Service Camp witnessing a full mobilization to provide the highest levels of service to visitors of the Prophet's Mosque during Ramadan 1447 AH. These efforts are made possible through the active participation of 530 young men and women, scout leaders, and female leaders from various scouting sectors across the Kingdom. These volunteers work within an integrated system, in continuous coordination with government agencies and partners, to provide a safe and comfortable environment for the pilgrims, reflecting the great care that the wise leadership gives to facilitating the performance of rituals with complete peace and spirituality.
A historic journey filled with scouting achievements
Volunteer work at the Two Holy Mosques is not a recent phenomenon, but rather extends back decades. The Saudi Arabian Scouts Association was founded in the mid-20th century and, from its inception, undertook the honor of contributing to the organization and facilitation of the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages. Historically, these camps have evolved from simple individual initiatives into a large and professional institutional system, relying on prior training and high-level qualifications for young Saudis. This rich historical legacy has made the Saudi Scouts a formidable force and an indispensable partner in crowd management and logistical support during major religious seasons, thus firmly establishing the roots of volunteer work in Saudi society, generation after generation.
Pioneering humanitarian initiatives serving visitors to the Prophet's Mosque
Volunteers contribute to a range of high-quality field and humanitarian initiatives targeting visitors to the central area and the courtyards of the Prophet's Mosque. Among the most prominent of these initiatives is the distribution of Iftar meals, a spiritual act embodying the highest values of social solidarity, generosity, and giving during the holy month. The scouting efforts are also clearly evident in providing care and reuniting lost children with their families through direct and immediate coordination with relevant authorities. This tireless work brings peace of mind to families and reflects the profound humanitarian aspect of scouting, as well as the high sense of responsibility and unwavering dedication of its members to meeting the needs of others.
Security and organizational support to ensure the comfort of the pilgrims
In addition to their humanitarian role, camp participants perform vital field tasks to support security and service agencies operating in the area. These tasks include supporting the work of the Special Forces for Hajj and Umrah Security and security patrols in the area surrounding the Prophet's Mosque. These pivotal roles complement the efforts of the General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, through their active contribution to organizing crowd movement and providing guidance and information services to visitors. This coordination aims to ensure smooth traffic flow at entrances and exits, and to provide an organized environment that allows everyone to perform their religious rites and prayers in a spiritually uplifting and conducive atmosphere, free from overcrowding.
The strategic impact of promoting a culture of volunteering locally and internationally
The importance of these camps extends far beyond simply providing temporary services; they have a profound strategic impact at the local, regional, and international levels. Locally, these initiatives play a crucial role in shaping the character of Saudi youth, developing their leadership and field skills, and fostering a sense of belonging and social responsibility—a goal closely aligned with Saudi Vision 2030's objective of reaching one million volunteers. Regionally and internationally, these efforts reflect the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's bright and civilized image to millions of Muslims from around the world. Presenting a model of organized charitable work enhances the quality of services provided and leaves a positive and lasting impression on pilgrims, further solidifying the Kingdom's position as the heart of the Islamic world and a leader in humanitarian and volunteer work.
