In a move aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and advancing joint development, His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Mr. Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, held an important meeting today in Riyadh with His Excellency the Minister of Economy and Planning of the Republic of Tunisia, Dr. Samir Abdelhafid. This high-level meeting took place on the sidelines of the 12th session of the Saudi-Tunisian Joint Committee, which serves as a pivotal platform for developing strategic partnerships between the two brotherly countries.
Promoting economic and industrial integration
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to enhance economic and industrial integration, reviewing the promising investment opportunities available in both countries. Discussions also addressed mechanisms for expanding cooperation in several strategic economic sectors, aligning with the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and the Tunisian government's aspirations for sustainable economic growth. The challenges facing exporters and investors were also discussed, with practical and appropriate solutions proposed to address them, directly contributing to increased trade volume and growth in bilateral trade.
The importance of the Saudi-Tunisian Joint Committee
This session of the Joint Committee meetings is of particular importance in light of global economic shifts, as Saudi Arabia and Tunisia seek to build a strong economic bloc based on the exchange of expertise and resources. The meeting highlighted the pivotal role of the Committee in bridging viewpoints and overcoming obstacles, commending the efforts of the working groups and representatives of government entities from both sides. These preparatory efforts resulted in the inclusion of nearly 100 items in the Committee's minutes, reflecting a strong desire to expand cooperation to encompass all vital sectors.
Promising strategic sectors
The discussions focused on 15 areas of cooperation covering vital strategic sectors, primarily energy, industry, mining, logistics, trade, and human resource development. The mining and industrial sectors are considered key pillars for both sides, given the natural resources and strategic geographic locations of both the Kingdom and Tunisia, which enhance logistics opportunities and access to global markets.
High-level attendance
The meeting witnessed a high-level attendance reflecting the keen interest of the leadership in both countries in ensuring the success of these discussions. Among those present were His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Al-Ahmari, Assistant Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Planning and Development, and His Excellency Eng. Saad Al-Khalab, CEO of the Saudi Export-Import Bank, underscoring the focus on financing and export support. Also in attendance was His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Saqr, Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the Republic of Tunisia, along with a number of officials and dignitaries from both countries, clearly demonstrating the depth of the diplomatic and economic relations between Riyadh and Tunis.
