The Public Transport Authority concluded its active participation in the annual meeting of the Transportation Research Board (TRB), which was held in Washington, D.C., and is considered one of the most important global forums specializing in the transport and logistics sector.
The Authority’s delegation to this global event was headed by the Authority’s Deputy for Transport Enabling, Dr. Omaima Bint Omar Bamsq, and the participation came to confirm the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to developing the transport system and adopting the latest global practices.
Research papers and innovative solutions
The Authority's participation included the presentation of two research papers focusing on showcasing modern solutions aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the transport sector and raising the level of operational and organizational performance. The participation was not limited to presentations alone, but also extended to engaging in specialized dialogue sessions that discussed the current challenges facing the transport sector globally and the future opportunities available for leveraging technology to improve the user experience.

These moves come within the framework of implementing the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy , launched by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, which aims to solidify the Kingdom's position as a global logistics hub. The Public Transport Authority is working to leverage these international platforms to transfer expertise and localize knowledge, contributing to increased infrastructure efficiency and reduced carbon emissions, in line with the Saudi Green Initiative.
Developing the transportation system for Hajj
During the conference, the Authority showcased its pioneering experience in crowd management and transportation organization during Hajj seasons, specifically the preparations for the 1446 AH Hajj season. The strategic partnerships between the public and private sectors that contributed to the development of transportation services, including the Al-Mashaaer Al-Mugaddassah Metro and the shuttle bus network, were highlighted. The Hajj transportation experience is considered a unique global model for managing massive migration within specific timeframes and locations, making it a focus of research for international experts.
Strengthening international partnerships
The Authority concluded its participation by emphasizing the importance of international cooperation to address the challenges facing the sector, noting that the presence of decision-makers, executive officials and representatives of academic institutions in Washington provided an ideal opportunity to build new partnerships that support innovation and contribute to the development of the transport industry at the global and local levels.
