General context and importance of the campaign within Vision 2030
The “Distinguished and Safe Roads” campaign falls within a broader strategic framework adopted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to improve the quality of its infrastructure, a key pillar of Vision 2030. With one of the world’s longest road networks, connecting its far-flung cities and serving millions of pilgrims, Umrah performers, and tourists annually, ensuring its safety and maintenance is a top priority. These initiatives aim to enhance the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics hub, as high-quality roads directly contribute to the efficiency of transportation and goods movement, supporting economic growth across various sectors.
Expected impact at the local and international levels
Domestically, the results of this campaign are expected to contribute to reducing road accident and fatality rates, improving the driving experience, and raising the overall quality of life. Regionally and internationally, maintaining a high-quality road network enhances the Kingdom's competitiveness and makes it an attractive destination for investment and tourism. Furthermore, facilitating the safe movement of pilgrims performing Hajj and Umrah reflects the Kingdom's commitment to serving the guests of God and providing them with the best possible services, which holds significant religious and economic importance.
Call for community participation
The Public Roads Authority reiterated its call to all citizens and residents to actively participate in the campaign by reporting any observations or visual distortions on the roads. This can be easily done through the “Turuq” app or by contacting the unified call center at 938, which operates around the clock to provide rapid support and assistance to road users. The Authority emphasized its ongoing commitment to addressing all observations to ensure safer and more efficient roads for everyone.
