The Saudi Red Crescent Authority has announced the opening of registration for volunteer work during the holy month of Ramadan 1447 AH in Madinah. This strategic initiative aims to enhance emergency medical preparedness and improve the efficiency of services provided to visitors of the Prophet's Mosque during one of the busiest and most crowded religious seasons.
Available volunteering pathways
The authority explained in its statement that the volunteer opportunities for this season have been carefully divided to include two main tracks covering all field needs:
- The ambulance route: It directly targets health practitioners and medical specialists, whose role is to support official ambulance teams, provide emergency health care to pilgrims and worshippers, and deal directly with illnesses and injuries in the courtyards of the Holy Mosque and surrounding areas.
- The logistical track: This track focuses on operational and organizational support, where volunteers contribute to facilitating the movement of ambulance teams and organizing the flow of crowds to ensure that paramedics reach emergency cases as quickly as possible, which forms a fundamental pillar for the success of the operational plan throughout the holy month.
The importance of volunteering in Medina during Ramadan
Volunteer work in Madinah during Ramadan takes on exceptional importance due to the spiritual significance of the city of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), which receives millions of visitors and pilgrims from within the Kingdom and abroad. This massive influx of people places a heavy responsibility on service and health authorities, making the role of volunteers pivotal in bridging gaps and providing the necessary support to ensure the safety of the pilgrims.
Through these initiatives, the Red Crescent Authority seeks to achieve a rapid and effective response to emergencies, benefiting from the youthful energies and diverse experiences of volunteers, which positively impacts the quality of life and religious visitor experience.
Volunteering and the Kingdom's Vision 2030
This initiative aligns perfectly with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to reach one million volunteers annually in the non-profit sector. Health and field volunteering with the Saudi Red Crescent is a pioneering model of humanitarian work that promotes the values of social solidarity, generosity, and giving. Opening the door for citizens and residents to participate in serving pilgrims strengthens the culture of volunteerism and transforms it from individual efforts into organized, impactful institutional work.
Registration dates and procedures
The authority indicated that registration is open from January 6, 2026, until January 29, 2026. It invited those wishing to have the honor of serving in this blessed place and time to register through the official "Volunteer Platform," where a separate opportunity code has been allocated for each track to facilitate volunteers choosing the field that best suits their qualifications and practical experience.
