A Saudi initiative to promote solidarity during Ramadan
As part of its ongoing efforts to serve Muslims worldwide during the holy month of Ramadan, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Religious Attaché at the Embassy of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in the Republic of Kenya, organized a communal Iftar meal at the Grand Mosque in Nairobi. This Iftar is part of the “Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ Program for Iftar for Fasting People,” which the Ministry implements annually in dozens of countries around the world.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Program: A Global Message
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' program for providing Iftar meals to fasting Muslims is one of the most prominent humanitarian and religious initiatives launched annually by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, reflecting its leading role in the Islamic world. The program aims to embody the values of solidarity and compassion advocated by Islam, especially during the month of Ramadan, when good deeds are multiplied. The Ministry of Islamic Affairs oversees the implementation of this extensive program through the Kingdom's embassies, religious attachés, and Islamic centers spread across various continents, ensuring that support reaches millions of Muslims, particularly Muslim minorities and communities in need. This year in Kenya, the program aims to provide Iftar meals to approximately 20,000 beneficiaries, thus strengthening the spirit of brotherhood and solidarity among members of the Muslim community there.
High-level diplomatic and religious presence
The iftar banquet was well-attended, led by the Deputy Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Kenya, Mr. Khalid bin Saeed Al-Zahrani. Prominent figures in Kenyan Islamic society also participated, including Dr. Adam Yunus Sheikh Ibrahim, Board Member and Advisor to the Supreme Council of Muslims in Kenya, and Chief Justice of Personal Status, Suqyan Hassan, along with a number of preachers and heads of Islamic associations. Approximately 100 fasting individuals shared the meal, reflecting the deep fraternal ties that bind the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Muslims of Kenya.
Local and international impact of the initiative
These initiatives are of paramount importance both locally and internationally. Locally in Kenya, where Muslims form a significant part of the social fabric, the iftar meals contribute to strengthening community bonds, meeting the needs of those fasting, and providing a spiritual atmosphere that brings them together at one table. Internationally, these efforts enhance the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's position as a leader of the Islamic world, highlighting its humanitarian and diplomatic role in building bridges of communication and affection between peoples, and reinforcing the tolerant image of Islam based on generosity and compassion.
Thanks and gratitude for the Kingdom's efforts
For their part, the attendees and beneficiaries of the program expressed their profound happiness and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince – may God protect them – for their ongoing support and care for Muslims worldwide. They commended the wise leadership's unwavering commitment to addressing the needs of Muslims, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. They also extended their thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs for its significant efforts in organizing and implementing this program, praying to God Almighty to reward the Kingdom's leadership abundantly and to perpetuate the blessings of security, safety, and prosperity upon the Kingdom.
