The training camp for the Saudi Paralympic weightlifting team has begun in Jeddah, in preparation for the Asian Open Championship and upcoming international competitions within the framework of Vision 2030.

The training camp for the Saudi Paralympic weightlifting team has begun in Jeddah, and will continue from March 21 to April 6, as part of the intensive preparation program for participation in upcoming external events, most notably the Asian Open Championship.

The two prominent weightlifters, Adnan Noor Saeed and Talal Al-Balawi, are participating in this training camp under the close technical supervision of national team coach Maher Ezzat and with administrative oversight from team manager Fathi Yaqoub. The technical and administrative staff are focusing on implementing a comprehensive program aimed at raising the weightlifters' physical and technical readiness, refining their skills, and enhancing their ability to compete at the highest international levels.

General context and importance of Paralympic sports in the Kingdom

The organization of this camp comes at a time when Saudi sports, including Paralympic sports, are witnessing unprecedented attention and support, in line with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which seeks to build a vibrant and healthy society. The Saudi Paralympic Committee and sports federations play a pivotal role in discovering and developing talent and providing all the necessary resources for athletes with disabilities to represent the Kingdom to the best of their ability in international competitions. Paralympic powerlifting (also known as strength training) is a sport that demands immense physical strength and high concentration, and Saudi champions have achieved remarkable successes in it in the past, placing upon the current generation the responsibility of continuing this legacy.

Expected impact and future goals

Locally, such camps contribute to spreading Paralympic sports culture and inspiring a new generation of young people with disabilities to participate in sports activities. Regionally and internationally, participation in the Asian Open Championships, scheduled for April 7-12, represents a key opportunity for weightlifter Adnan Noor Saeed to test his abilities against the continent's elite. Achieving positive results in this championship will not only enhance the athlete's international ranking but also raise the Kingdom's profile on the Asian sports scene.

The Saudi Weightlifting Federation confirmed that holding this camp comes within a strategic plan to develop Paralympic weightlifting, and to continuously support the players to achieve the best results and raise the Kingdom’s name high in international forums, with the aim of reaching the podiums in world championships and Paralympic Games.
