The National Campaign for Charitable Work launched its sixth edition through the Ihsan platform, achieving 646 million riyals on its first day with the support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince.

In an exceptional launch reflecting the values of solidarity and generosity in Saudi society, the sixth edition of the National Charity Campaign set a new record, with total donations reaching 646 million Saudi riyals on its first day alone through the national charity platform “Ihsan.” As is customary each year, the campaign received the generous support and patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who inaugurated it with a generous donation.

The campaign was launched last Friday evening, coinciding with the blessed days of Ramadan, the month of goodness and blessings, which lends the campaign significant spiritual and social momentum. As a shining example to the Saudi people, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, donated 40 million riyals, while His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, donated 30 million riyals, thus reaffirming the unwavering support of the wise leadership for the charitable and non-profit sector in the Kingdom.

General context and historical background

The National Charity Campaign is a prominent annual event launched through the “Ihsan” platform, established by royal decree and overseen by the Saudi Data & Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) and several other official entities. Launched in March 2021, the platform aims to enhance the Kingdom’s leading role in charitable and developmental work and facilitate donations for citizens and residents by providing a reliable and secure digital channel. Previous campaigns have successfully raised billions, reflecting the significant trust donors have in the platform and its ability to deliver aid to those in need with high efficiency and transparency.

The importance of the event and its expected impact

This campaign is of paramount importance locally, as the donations collected contribute to supporting a wide range of vital areas that directly impact the lives of thousands of families and individuals in need across the Kingdom. These areas include healthcare, education, housing, social support, and alleviating the hardships of those facing financial difficulties through the “Furijat” service, in addition to sponsoring orphans and caring for the elderly. This significant financial influx into the non-profit sector strengthens the social safety net and directly contributes to achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to increase the non-profit sector's contribution to the GDP and empower a vibrant and productive society. Internationally, these initiatives present a positive image of the Kingdom as a leader in humanitarian work and reflect the values of compassion and social responsibility deeply rooted in its culture.
