Learn about the historic transformation led by the Saudi Ministry of Sports to develop infrastructure and host world championships in line with the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is witnessing an unprecedented sporting movement and a radical transformation on all levels, from football to various other sports, culminating in its hosting of major international events. This rapid development did not come about by chance, but is the result of a meticulous strategy and an ambitious vision led by the Ministry of Sport under the supervision of Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, and with the unlimited support of the architect of the vision, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who has elevated Saudi sports from the local and regional spheres to broad global horizons.

Vision 2030 and Infrastructure Development:
This initiative is an integral part of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 objectives, which aim to improve quality of life and diversify the economy. The Ministry of Sports has successfully generated new revenue streams through improved financial and administrative governance, and by activating stadium investment and leasing to clubs—a professional step that enhances the sector's financial sustainability. This is clearly evident in the significant infrastructure upgrades, including the development of the stadiums of Al-Ettifaq, Al-Fateh, and Al-Shabab clubs, in addition to the substantial improvements made to Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium and Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium.

Hosting Major Tournaments: From Regional to Global,
the Kingdom has become a preferred destination for international sports, currently hosting and preparing to host a series of important tournaments. Following the hosting of the Spanish Super Cup in Jeddah and the Italian Super Cup in Riyadh, the Kingdom is gearing up for major events including the AFC U-23 Championship, the 27th Gulf Cup in Jeddah, and the continent's premier event, the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, to be held in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam. These efforts are complemented by the ongoing work to complete new stadiums such as the Aramco Stadium in Al-Khobar, the Jeddah Central Stadium, and the new world-class stadiums in Riyadh, all in preparation for the ultimate dream: hosting the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

National talent is driving change
behind this institutional success. Young and innovative Saudi professionals play a key role, most notably Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Musaed, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Sports and Youth Affairs, who exemplifies efficiency and dedication in fieldwork and direct supervision, following in his father's footsteps in serving Saudi sports. The media and marketing sector also plays a vital role under the leadership of Mr. Adel Al-Zahrani, who has brought about a transformation in media transparency and facilitated the work of journalists with high professionalism. The efforts of Mr. Anas Dahlawi, Director General of Facilities Operations, cannot be overlooked; his work has clearly impacted the readiness of stadiums and resolved previous operational issues, ensuring that Saudi facilities are presented in a manner befitting the Kingdom's stature.

What is happening today in the Ministry of Sports is more than just development; it is the establishment of a historic phase that places the Kingdom among the leading countries in sports, through digital transformation, investment in clubs, and the development of human resources, so that the sports sector becomes an honorable face and a source of pride for all Saudis.
