Saudi Minister of Information, Salman Al-Dossari, announced a package of major national achievements that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has made by the end of 2025, revealing record numbers in the energy, economy and quality of life sectors, during the government press conference held on Monday.
Oil and gas discoveries enhance the Kingdom's position
As part of the Kingdom’s strategy to maximize and sustain its natural resources, Al-Dossari revealed the success of the Ministry of Energy and Aramco in discovering 13 new gas and oil fields and reservoirs during 2025. These discoveries will enhance the Kingdom’s hydrocarbon reserves, consolidating its position as a key pillar of global energy security, and supporting its plans to expand natural gas production to meet growing domestic demand and support national industries.
Non-oil economic growth and Vision 2030
In a clear indication of the success of the economic diversification programs within the Kingdom's Vision 2030, the Minister of Media explained that the contribution of non-oil activities to real GDP jumped to 55.4% in the third quarter of last year, compared to 45.9% in 2016. This figure reflects the structural transformation in the Saudi economy, where promising sectors such as tourism, entertainment, and technology are now playing a pivotal role in economic growth, independent of the fluctuations of oil markets.
Quality of life: health and housing
Regarding the Quality of Life Program, Al-Dossari reviewed vital indicators that directly affect citizens, noting that the average life expectancy in the Kingdom has risen to 79.7 years , compared to 74 years in 2016. This reflects the significant development in healthcare services and the healthcare sector transformation program. He also pointed out that the rate of homeownership among Saudi families has reached 65.4% , confirming the success of housing and housing support programs in achieving their objectives.
Digital leadership and artificial intelligence
The minister affirmed that the Kingdom continues its global leadership in the technology sector, having ranked first globally in the number of awards at the Artificial Intelligence for Youth competition, winning 26 awards, and second globally in digital government indicators. This coincided with significant growth in e-gaming and cybersecurity activities, with growth rates ranging between 23% and 35%.
Mega projects: Qiddiya and Riyadh Metro
The conference addressed updates on major projects, noting that the Riyadh Metro an operational compliance rate of 99.8%, transporting 120 million passengers. In a related context, Abdullah Al-Dawood, Managing Director of Qiddiya Investment Company, discussed preparations for the opening of Six Flags Qiddiya City, pointing out that the city's brand has achieved a global reach exceeding 27 billion times in the second half of 2025, promising a bright future for the world-class entertainment destination.
