The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince sent congratulatory telegrams to the Sultan of Brunei on the success of his surgery, in a gesture that reflects the strength of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prime Minister, sent congratulatory cables to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan of Brunei Darussalam, on the occasion of the success of his recent surgery. This high-level diplomatic gesture reflects the depth of the fraternal relations and historical ties that bind the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam.

In his telegram, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques said: “On the occasion of the success of the surgical operation performed on Your Majesty, we are pleased to send you our warmest congratulations and best wishes, asking God Almighty to grant you health and happiness, and to protect you from all harm and evil. He is the All-Hearing, the Responsive.”.

For his part, His Highness the Crown Prince expressed in his telegram his sincere wishes to His Majesty the Sultan, saying: “On the occasion of the success of the surgical operation that was performed on Your Majesty, I am pleased to express to you my warmest congratulations and best wishes, praying to the Almighty God to grant you continued health and happiness, and not to show you any harm, for He is the All-Hearing, the Responsive.”.

Deep-rooted historical relations between the two countries

These messages are not merely a matter of protocol; they reaffirm the strength of bilateral relations, which are based on shared religious and cultural ties, as both countries are prominent members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The roots of this relationship extend back decades, during which fruitful cooperation has been established across various political and economic fields. These ties were significantly strengthened by the historic visit of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, to Brunei in 2017 as part of his Asian tour, a visit that opened new horizons for cooperation in the areas of investment, energy, and education.

The importance of Brunei's stability and leadership

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, one of the world's longest-reigning monarchs, holds a pivotal position in the stability and development of Brunei. Since assuming power in 1967, he has led his country towards a comprehensive economic and social renaissance while preserving its Islamic identity and long-standing traditions. Given his central role as head of state and government, His Majesty's health and the stability of Brunei are of paramount importance not only domestically but also regionally and internationally, especially as Brunei is an active member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The diplomatic impact of the Saudi gesture

This congratulatory message from the Saudi leadership underscores the Kingdom's policy of strengthening bonds of brotherhood and solidarity with Islamic and friendly nations. It also reflects the personal attention given by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince to enhancing relations with world leaders and building bridges of trust and cooperation. Such diplomatic messages contribute to strengthening strategic alliances and reaffirm the Kingdom's leading role in the Islamic world, as well as its commitment to the security and stability of its partners worldwide.
