The Board of Grievances in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia successfully concluded the “Judicial Intelligence Hackathon,” the most prominent technology event of its kind in the justice sector, under the patronage and in the presence of the President of the Board of Grievances, Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Yousef. The closing ceremony saw the crowning of five winning teams who presented innovative projects. They were honored with cash prizes and commemorative shields with a total value exceeding 200,000 Saudi Riyals, a step that underscores the support and encouragement given to young minds to contribute to the development of the judicial system.
This landmark event embodies the Kingdom's commitment to achieving the goals of Vision 2030, which places digital transformation and the development of government services at the heart of its priorities. Administrative justice, represented by the Board of Grievances, is a fundamental pillar in achieving justice and protecting rights; hence the importance of adopting modern technologies such as artificial intelligence to enhance its efficiency and transparency.
An exceptional competition to serve justice
The hackathon witnessed record-breaking participation, with over 1,070 innovators specializing in law and technology, forming 260 teams, working for several consecutive days to develop smart solutions to the challenges facing administrative justice. After rounds of rigorous evaluation and selection, only 24 teams qualified for the decisive final stage, reflecting the intensity of the competition and the high quality of the ideas presented.
The announcement of the final results was preceded by a high-level dialogue session in which prominent judicial leaders participated, discussing the pivotal role of technological innovation in improving the experience of beneficiaries of judicial services and raising the quality of procedures, stressing that these initiatives represent a strategic investment in young talents to build the future of the judiciary.
Expected local and regional impact
The winning projects aim to provide innovative technological solutions that directly contribute to improving litigation procedures, expediting case resolution, and facilitating access to services for citizens and residents. These innovations are expected to have a tangible positive impact locally by enhancing the efficiency of administrative courts and achieving "swift justice," a key objective of the Kingdom's judicial sector.
Regionally, this initiative positions Saudi Arabia as a leader in the field of legal technology (Legal Tech) in the Middle East. The Board of Grievances' adoption of such open events sets a model for other government institutions in the region and reinforces the Kingdom's status as a hub for technological innovation. This pioneering step reflects the Board of Grievances' commitment to attracting creative ideas and adopting the latest technologies to enhance its journey towards sustainable institutional excellence, serving the aspirations of the leadership and those who benefit from its services.
