General context and importance of the passport sector
The General Directorate of Passports is one of the most vital security and service sectors in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, undertaking significant responsibilities related to maintaining the country's security and facilitating the movement of citizens, residents, and visitors. Historically, the role of passports has evolved from simply issuing travel documents to a comprehensive system managing land, air, and sea ports of entry, overseeing resident records, and playing a pivotal role in enforcing regulations related to residency, employment, and visits. With the launch of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, the importance of this sector has increased, as it serves as the Kingdom's primary point of contact for millions of pilgrims, Umrah performers, tourists, and investors from around the world.
Expected impact of upgrades on performance and service quality
These extensive promotions serve as a significant morale booster for staff and are expected to have a direct and positive impact on performance levels and the quality of services provided. Locally, recognizing and motivating talent contributes to increased morale, encouraging employees to exert greater effort and excellence in their duties, whether at airports and border crossings or through digital platforms like “Absher.” Regionally and internationally, the efficiency of the passport sector enhances the Kingdom’s reputation as a leading global destination and ensures a smooth and convenient experience for visitors, aligning with the Kingdom’s objectives of developing the tourism and business sectors and attracting foreign investment.
