Since its establishment in May 2015 under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center has emerged as a key humanitarian arm of the Kingdom, implementing relief projects in dozens of countries affected by crises and natural disasters. This latest aid comes in response to the complex humanitarian situations in the beneficiary countries. In Yemen , the conflict continues to cause widespread suffering, while Sudan an unprecedented displacement crisis. In Afghanistan , needs are exacerbated by recurring natural disasters, and Somalia suffers from chronic challenges related to drought and food insecurity.

Integrated efforts in Yemen: from food to environmental rehabilitation

In Yemen, the center's efforts were multifaceted to ensure a sustainable impact. 1,250 cartons of dates were distributed in the Ash-Shihr and Ghayl Bawazir districts of Hadramawt Governorate, benefiting 7,500 individuals. Aid extended beyond food assistance to include specialized medical support. The project to operate the Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Center in Sayun provided services to 519 beneficiaries who had lost limbs, delivering 1,925 services including the manufacturing and fitting of prosthetics and physical therapy. In the area of ​​environmental sanitation, the center conducted a large-scale clean-up campaign in Al-Khawkhah District of Al-Hudaydah Governorate to remove waste and reduce the spread of disease, thus contributing to improving the quality of life for local residents.

Urgent response in Sudan, Afghanistan and Somalia

In response to the emergencies, the center distributed aid in three other countries. In Sudan , 550 food baskets were distributed in Port Sudan locality, Red Sea State, as part of the third phase of the Food Security Support Project, to assist families affected by the conflict. In Afghanistan , aid reached earthquake victims in the north of the country, with 420 food baskets and 420 cartons of dates distributed in Alborz district, Balkh province, to alleviate the suffering of 420 affected families.

In Somalia , the Food Security Support Project targeted those in need in the city of Adado in Galmudug State, where 1,000 food baskets were distributed, benefiting 6,000 individuals, in a move aimed at promoting food stability in a region suffering from major climatic and economic challenges.
