In a move to enhance transparency and communication, the President of the General Auditing Bureau issued a decision appointing Mohammed Al-Razeen as the official spokesperson for the Bureau, in line with Vision 2030.

The President of the General Auditing Bureau of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Hossam bin Abdulmohsen Al-Anqari, issued an administrative decision appointing Mr. Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Razeen as the Bureau's official spokesperson. This appointment is in addition to his current duties as Executive Director of Financial Audit and Compliance at the Bureau.

This step comes as part of the Audit Bureau's strategy to enhance institutional communication channels and activate its role in raising the level of transparency and accountability in government agencies. The decision aims to build effective and sustainable communication bridges with various media outlets and the public, ensuring that the Bureau's message, activities, and reports are conveyed clearly and accurately, and facilitating access to reliable information for interested parties and specialists.

Historical context and the role of the General Auditing Bureau

The General Auditing Bureau, established by royal decree in 1391 AH (1971 CE), is the Kingdom's supreme financial and accounting oversight body. The Bureau reports directly to the King, granting it complete independence in carrying out its oversight functions. Over the decades, the Bureau's role has evolved from a focus on traditional financial oversight (auditing and compliance) to include performance auditing, which assesses the efficiency and effectiveness of public resource utilization in achieving desired objectives. This evolution aligns with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 , which places governance, transparency, and combating corruption at the heart of its priorities.

The importance of the decision and its expected impact

The appointment of a dedicated spokesperson represents a significant shift in the Audit Bureau's media communication strategy. Domestically, this decision will enhance public trust in the state's oversight bodies by providing an official source of information on how public funds are managed and spent. It will also simplify complex financial and oversight concepts for the public, thereby raising societal awareness of the importance of oversight and the preservation of national resources.

At the regional and international levels, this step reflects the Kingdom's commitment to global best practices in government transparency. This approach strengthens the Bureau's position as an active member of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) and its Arab counterpart (ARABOSAI), and demonstrates its seriousness in implementing good governance standards. Mr. Al-Razeen possesses extensive practical experience gained throughout his career at leading international accounting and auditing firms, and holds a master's degree in finance, making him highly qualified to represent the Bureau and speak on its behalf with competence and expertise.
