Strategic partnership to enhance national content
In a strategic move aimed at leveraging soft power to promote national values, the Saudi Ministry of Defense signed a memorandum of understanding with Manga Productions, a subsidiary of the Mohammed bin Salman Foundation (MiSK). The signing ceremony was attended by His Excellency Dr. Khalid bin Hussein Al-Bayari, Assistant Minister of Defense for Executive Affairs. This collaboration aims to produce creative content highlighting the heroism and sacrifices of members of the Saudi Armed Forces.
The memorandum was signed by Mr. Abdulrahman bin Sultan Al-Sultan, Executive Director General of the General Directorate of Strategic Communication at the Ministry of Defense's Agency for Strategic Affairs, and Mr. Abdulaziz bin Hamad Al-Muwayni, Director General of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Manga Productions. This partnership aims to develop innovative methods for delivering media messages that reinforce national identity and document heroic stories in a modern narrative style that reflects Saudi identity.
The general context within the Kingdom's Vision 2030
This collaboration comes within a broader context aligned with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which focuses on developing the cultural and creative sectors as a pillar of the national economy and a tool for strengthening national identity. Manga Productions is a key player in this field, having successfully produced Saudi works of international caliber, such as the film "The Journey" and the series "Legends of the Future," which have achieved both local and international success. The Ministry of Defense's selection of a company specializing in animation and games reflects a deep understanding of the importance of reaching younger generations with a modern and impactful language that transcends traditional communication methods.
The importance of the event and its expected impact
The significance of this memorandum extends beyond simply producing entertainment content; it serves as a strategic tool for building bridges of communication between the military establishment and society, particularly children and youth. The anticipated outcomes of this collaboration include the production of animated series and the creation of Saudi characters inspired by the armed forces environment, contributing to the development of positive role models for future generations. Domestically, these works will bolster national pride and inspire young people with stories of real-life heroes from across the nation.
Regionally and internationally, this initiative contributes to presenting a modern and positive image of the Kingdom and its armed forces, highlighting their efforts in maintaining the security and stability of the region. Furthermore, exporting this creative content abroad is part of cultural diplomacy, which aims to share Saudi culture and history with the world in an engaging and globally acceptable manner. Professor Abdulrahman Al-Sultan emphasized that this partnership will utilize modern creative media to reach diverse age groups and present content that reflects the Saudi military identity and the achievements of its armed forces personnel, thereby strengthening national awareness and documenting the inspiring stories of the nation's heroes.
