In a strategic move reflecting growing global demand for Saudi products, the National Center for Palms and Dates announced a new milestone: the inclusion of products from several Saudi date companies in over 1,500 additional retail outlets worldwide. This step culminates the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to strengthen its leadership in the agriculture and food sector and enhance export efficiency, aligning with the goals of Vision 2030 , which prioritizes diversifying national income sources and developing non-oil exports.
Export Empowerment Initiative: A Gateway to Global Reach
This announcement came as part of the "Empowering Saudi Dates Exports" initiative, an ambitious program aimed at supporting national companies and removing obstacles to their access to international markets. The center explained that efforts focused on qualifying companies and developing their products to meet the highest international quality standards and the requirements of target markets. These efforts resulted in 10 Saudi companies successfully signing supply contracts with 15 major retail chains across more than 14 countries on different continents, ensuring that premium Saudi dates are directly available to global consumers.
Saudi dates: a cultural heritage and an economic powerhouse
Exporting dates is not merely a commercial activity; it represents the export of an integral part of Saudi identity and culture. The palm tree, which features prominently in the Kingdom's emblem, symbolizes generosity and authentic Arabian hospitality, and has deep historical roots in the Arabian Peninsula. Today, this traditional agriculture is evolving into a sophisticated industry that utilizes the latest technologies in harvesting, sorting, and packaging, making "Saudi Dates" a globally trusted brand that competes strongly in international markets and contributes to enhancing the image of Saudi products.
Record numbers reflect global leadership
It is worth noting that the date palm and date sector in Saudi Arabia is experiencing an unprecedented boom, with the Kingdom now leading the world in date exports by value. Official statistics indicate that the Kingdom's production has exceeded 1.9 million tons annually, while the value of exports has reached approximately 1.7 billion Saudi riyals. These products now reach consumers in 133 countries, confirming the success of government strategies in transforming this vital sector into a significant economic contributor that strengthens the GDP and enhances food security.
