The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continues to solidify its leading global position in the camel sector, taking unprecedented steps to integrate this rich cultural heritage with the latest digital technologies. In a significant move aimed at bringing the desert's heritage into the digital realm, the "Sanam" platform has emerged as an innovative digital arena that brings together camel enthusiasts in a unique interactive experience. This platform allows users to build their own camel herd, choose its colors, and appoint a guardian, all to compete in a virtual environment that mirrors reality.
Digital success and widespread public engagement
The game “Sanam” achieved remarkable success, reflecting the public's enthusiasm for innovative local content. It attracted over 600,000 players in a short period of just 40 days. This success wasn't limited to player numbers; the game topped the charts on both Apple and Android app stores throughout the competition, becoming the most popular and engaging Saudi game, surpassing many international games in the local market.
Crowning the winner and unprecedented prizes
At the conclusion of the fierce competition in the third edition of the "Sanam" platform, Ibrahim Al-Muhaidib emerged victorious, having achieved the highest score in a competition that spanned more than 30 days. The winner received an exceptional prize package announced by Sheikh Fahd bin Falah bin Hathleen, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Camel Club. This package included the symbolic "Shaddad" prize, a private island, and the honor of meeting the event's patron. The competition also recognized the support team for the winner, with the top ten winners receiving substantial cash prizes totaling 5 million riyals, reflecting the significant support provided to this sector.
Camels: A historical symbol and a cultural treasure
These initiatives cannot be viewed in isolation from the Kingdom's historical and cultural context. Camels, or "ships of the desert," are not merely animals in the Arab collective memory; they are companions on the journey and symbols of survival, generosity, and pride. The lives of our forefathers were intertwined with camels, both in settled life and in migration, and they formed a vital economic and social backbone in the Arabian Peninsula for centuries. Today, these digital initiatives connect the tech-savvy generation with this great heritage, reinforcing national identity in the hearts of the younger generation in a modern way that resonates with their interests.
Vision 2030 and the Economics of Electronic Games
The “Sanam” game and the Camel Club’s initiatives align directly with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to diversify income sources and develop the electronic games and mind sports sector. By transforming heritage into a digital entertainment product, the Kingdom is successfully creating “edutainment” and raising awareness about camel breeding and its economics. This approach also demonstrates the Kingdom’s commitment to becoming a global hub for the electronic games sector, providing a fertile environment for innovators and developers to produce culturally relevant content capable of competing globally.
