The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, chaired the Cabinet meeting held today, which included a comprehensive review of current regional and international developments. At the outset of its proceedings, the Cabinet focused on the outcomes of the intensive diplomatic consultations and talks conducted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in recent days with a number of brotherly and friendly nations, aimed at coordinating positions regarding the rapidly evolving situation in the region.
In line with Saudi Arabia’s firm and historic position, the Cabinet reaffirmed the centrality of the Palestinian cause to the Kingdom’s foreign policy, emphasizing that it remains the top priority in light of current challenges. The Cabinet expressed the Kingdom’s full support for all diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving an immediate and lasting ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, to end the humanitarian suffering endured by innocent civilians.
These affirmations are a continuation of the historical and pioneering role that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has played since the era of its founder, King Abdulaziz – may God have mercy on him – in defending the rights of the Palestinian people in all international forums. The Council stressed the necessity of enabling the brotherly Palestinian people to attain their legitimate rights, foremost among them their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent and sovereign state within the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant international resolutions.
On the regional security front, the Council addressed efforts to establish peace and security in the Middle East, emphasizing the Kingdom's commitment to supporting multilateral international initiatives. The Council noted that collective cooperation is the best way to confront shared challenges that threaten development and stability, and to ensure a secure and prosperous future for the region's peoples, free from conflicts and tensions that hinder progress.
