Riyadh received Pakistani conjoined twins Sufyan and Yusuf, in accordance with the leadership’s directives, to study their case and perform a separation operation within the Saudi program for separating conjoined twins.

In compliance with the generous directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, a new humanitarian case arrived in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, represented by the Pakistani conjoined twins Sufyan and Yusuf, accompanied by their relatives, coming from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Upon their arrival via a fully equipped medical evacuation plane at King Khalid International Airport, the twins were immediately transferred to King Abdullah Specialist Children’s Hospital of the Ministry of National Guard, in order to begin the journey of accurate diagnosis and conduct the necessary examinations to assess their health condition, and to determine the possibility of performing a surgical operation to successfully separate them.

This initiative falls under the umbrella of the Saudi Program for Separating Conjoined Twins, a landmark in the history of medicine and surgery worldwide. Established in 1990, the program has since gained a strong international reputation thanks to its proven track record of success. Over the past three decades, the program has studied and evaluated more than 135 cases of conjoined twins from 25 countries around the world, successfully performing dozens of complex surgeries that have restored hope and normalcy to the lives of children and their families.
