The National Center for Meteorology issued its daily weather report for Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, indicating significant weather changes affecting various regions of the Kingdom. These forecasts are in line with the usual weather fluctuations during winter, as the Kingdom's atmosphere is affected by cold air masses coming from the north, leading to drastic changes in temperatures and horizontal visibility.
Lower temperatures and frost formation
The report indicated that the most prominent feature of today's weather is a noticeable drop in temperatures, accompanied by active surface winds that stir up dust and sand. This drop is particularly concentrated in the northern and northwestern regions, including:
- Tabuk region.
- Al-Jawf region.
- Hail region.
- Northern Border Region.
- The northern parts of the Qassim and Eastern regions.
The center also warned of a high probability of frost during the early morning hours in parts of these areas, a phenomenon that calls for the attention of farmers, drivers and residents of those areas to take the necessary precautions to protect themselves from the severe cold.
Rain and fog in the highlands
In contrast, the southern and southwestern highlands will experience different weather conditions, with partly to mostly cloudy skies. There is a chance of light rain, accompanied by dense fog that may reduce horizontal visibility, in parts of these areas

The state of the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf
Regarding the sea conditions, the Red Sea northwesterly to northerly surface winds at speeds ranging from 20 to 40 km/h in its northern and central parts, while southeasterly to easterly winds prevail in the southern part. Wave heights are reaching up to two meters towards the Gulf of Aqaba and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, resulting in moderate sea conditions.
As for the Arabian Gulf , its waters are experiencing active northwesterly winds reaching speeds of up to 45 km/h in the northern part, with wave heights ranging between half a meter and one and a half meters, and the sea state is light to moderately rough.
Special alerts for the Eastern Province
The National Center of Meteorology issued a special alert for the Eastern Province regarding blowing dust, the effects of which will begin at 12 noon and continue until 6 pm. The alert includes the following governorates:
- Al-Khafji.
- Al-Nu'ayriyah.
- Upper Village.
- Hafar Al-Batin.
This condition causes horizontal visibility to drop to between (3-5) kilometers, which necessitates caution while driving on highways and open roads in those areas.
The importance of caution
These weather forecasts are crucial for public safety, and experts consistently advise staying updated on weather developments, especially for highway users and intercity travelers. Wearing appropriate winter clothing is also recommended in areas experiencing sharp drops in temperature and frost to protect against colds and seasonal illnesses.
