Rain is expected in various parts of the Kingdom
The National Center for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia announced its forecast that several regions will be affected by a rainy weather system starting Wednesday evening and continuing until Thursday. According to numerical models and weather expert analyses, these regions are expected to experience rainfall ranging from light to moderate, with the possibility of heavy downpours in some limited geographical areas, accompanied by surface wind activity and occasional hail.
The center explained in its report that the weather conditions will affect the southwestern highlands, specifically parts of the Asir, Al-Baha, Jazan, and Makkah regions. The effects will also extend to parts of the central region, including the Qassim region and the northern and western parts of the Riyadh region, reaching as far as the Eastern Province.

This rainfall comes within the context of the Kingdom's predominantly arid climate, where rain is a vital seasonal event eagerly awaited by many. These precipitations directly contribute to replenishing groundwater reserves, filling dams, and revitalizing vegetation and natural pastures, positively impacting the agricultural sector and the environment in general. Historically, rainy seasons in the Arabian Peninsula have been linked to specific climatic patterns, such as the Red Sea Trough and the influence of humid air masses originating from the Arabian Sea, which are most pronounced during transitional periods between seasons.

While rainfall brings many benefits, it also carries some potential risks. Heavy downpours, especially in highlands and mountainous regions, can lead to flash floods in valleys and ravines, posing a threat to life and property. They can also disrupt road traffic and cause waterlogging in low-lying areas within cities.
In this context, the National Center of Meteorology stressed the need for caution and urged everyone to follow its updates and reports continuously through its official website, social media platforms, and the "Anwaa" application. Relevant authorities, such as the General Directorate of Civil Defense, also called on citizens and residents to stay away from floodplains and valleys during rainfall and to adhere to safety instructions issued to ensure everyone's protection.
