Affirmation of Arab principles
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through its Assistant Minister of Media, Dr. Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Maghlouth, reiterated its call for unifying and intensifying Arab media efforts to support the Palestinian cause, emphasizing that it is the central issue for the Arab nation. This came during Dr. Al-Maghlouth's participation, on behalf of the Minister of Media, Mr. Salman bin Yousef Al-Dosari, in the 22nd session of the Executive Bureau of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, hosted by the State of Kuwait.
Historical background and pivotal role of the media
The Palestinian cause has always been a cornerstone of joint Arab action since the founding of the League of Arab States. Over the decades, Arab media has played a pivotal role in shaping public awareness and mobilizing popular and official support for legitimate Palestinian rights. The meetings of the Council of Arab Information Ministers serve as a periodic platform for coordinating media policies and developing unified strategies to address evolving challenges, foremost among them presenting a coherent and effective Arab narrative on the Palestinian cause to the world, especially in light of rapid developments and ongoing attempts to marginalize the issue.
Dimensions of the call and its strategic importance
In his address at the meeting, Al-Maghlouth stressed the need to continue efforts to develop joint Arab media work, placing the Palestinian cause at the forefront of priorities. He emphasized the importance of continuing to advocate for it in all its political, humanitarian, and human rights dimensions, and of intensifying its coverage across various traditional and modern Arab media outlets. This call extends beyond news reporting to include the production of dramatic, cultural, and documentary content that strengthens the presence of the cause in the minds of new generations and counters opposing narratives that seek to distort historical facts.
Comprehensive development to keep pace with the times
Dr. Al-Maghlouth commended the achievements made within the framework of Arab media plans, which have not been limited to supporting the Palestinian cause, but have also included programs to counter extremism and terrorism, a media roadmap for sustainable development, and plans for media literacy and addressing environmental issues. He also emphasized the importance of enhancing the capabilities of Arab media professionals and leveraging modern technologies such as artificial intelligence to strengthen credibility and professional ethics, encourage innovation in digital content creation, and develop cybersecurity for Arab media institutions, to ensure that the Arab message reaches local and international public opinion clearly and effectively.
