The Saudi Water Authority announced the launch of the “Water Innovation Oasis” in Rabigh Governorate, a historic step representing a qualitative leap in the water technology sector. The Oasis has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest integrated water innovation complex, bringing together advanced scientific research, applied experiments, and industrial implementation under one roof, thus accelerating the transformation of research ideas into practical and sustainable solutions.

The launch of this massive project comes within the context of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to address water scarcity, one of the most prominent environmental challenges in the region. Historically, the Kingdom has been a global leader in seawater desalination to meet its growing needs. Today, the “Water Innovation Oasis” represents a strategic development in this direction, as the Kingdom transitions from being an importer and implementer of technologies to an exporter and innovator. The Oasis boasts a state-of-the-art infrastructure, including over 23 specialized laboratories and integrated pilot plants. A key feature of the Oasis is its integration of artificial intelligence applications in the management and operation of water systems, ensuring unprecedented operational efficiency. These environmentally friendly practices will contribute to reducing carbon emissions by more than 284 tons of carbon dioxide annually, making the Oasis a global model for sustainable research facilities.
