A global initiative coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan
His Excellency the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Latif bin Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh, inaugurated in Riyadh the seasonal programs implemented by the Ministry during the holy month of Ramadan this year. These initiatives are part of the programs of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and include the distribution of copies of the Holy Quran and premium dates, in addition to providing Iftar meals for those fasting. This year, the programs aim to reach Muslims in 120 countries across the globe.
These programs are an extension of a long-standing annual tradition upheld by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, reflecting its leading role and special status in the Islamic world as the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. These initiatives acquire particular significance during Ramadan, the month of goodness, blessings, and solidarity among Muslims, as the Kingdom seeks through them to strengthen the bonds of Islamic brotherhood and share the joy of the holy month with Muslims worldwide.
Program details and strategic objectives
The initiatives launched include the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Dates Distribution Program, which will distribute 1,000 tons of dates, an increase of 300 tons over last year, and expand its geographical scope to include 18 new countries. The Holy Quran Distribution Program also includes the distribution of 2.2 million copies of the Holy Quran, published by the King Fahd Complex for Printing the Holy Quran in Madinah, in various sizes and approved translations to meet the needs of Muslims who speak multiple languages.
In addition, the Imams' Mission Program was launched, through which 91 imams will be sent to 49 countries to lead worshippers in Taraweeh and Qiyam prayers and deliver educational lessons and lectures, thus enriching the spiritual atmosphere for Muslims in those countries. His Excellency Minister Al-Sheikh emphasized that these programs represent a global humanitarian message stemming from the Kingdom's deeply rooted values and reflect the wise leadership's commitment to extending goodness to every Muslim and addressing their needs.
International impact and leading role of the Kingdom
Targeting more than 120 countries embodies the Kingdom's pivotal role in serving Islam and Muslims, and in consolidating the principles of moderation, centrism, and solidarity. This effort also strengthens the Kingdom's religious and cultural diplomacy, and builds bridges of communication and goodwill with Muslim peoples and communities around the world. The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has dedicated all its human and organizational resources to ensure that these initiatives reach their intended beneficiaries efficiently and effectively, in coordination with the Kingdom's embassies and Islamic centers abroad.
These efforts reflect the Kingdom’s honorable image, enhance its humanitarian and advocacy presence on the international stage, and affirm its steadfast mission to spread goodness and peace and serve the causes of the Islamic nation, in line with the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 to deepen the Kingdom’s positive impact on the global stage.
