Learn about the details of the Saudi Minister of Information’s announcement of the discovery of 13 oil and gas fields, the rise in home ownership rates, and the Kingdom’s leading position in artificial intelligence awards in 2025.

Saudi Minister of Information, Salman bin Yousef Al-Dossari, announced a package of major national achievements that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has accomplished during the year 2025, stressing that the country is turning a new page in its history of ambition and successive successes that reflect the fruits of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

Oil and gas discoveries enhance the Kingdom's economic standing

In a strategic announcement reinforcing the Kingdom's leadership in global energy markets, Al-Dossari revealed during a government press conference the discovery of 13 new oil and gas fields and 12 new reservoirs by 2025. These discoveries will maximize and replace the Kingdom's reserves, contributing to the sustainability of natural resources and supporting the national economy. Economic experts indicate that these discoveries not only enhance the Kingdom's high reliability as an energy source but also support the trend toward using gas for domestic power generation, thus freeing up crude oil for export and downstream industries.

Digital leadership and artificial intelligence

Regarding digital transformation and human capacity building, the Minister of Media explained that the Kingdom ranked first globally in the number of awards at the Artificial Intelligence Youth Competition, winning 26 awards, and also ranked second globally in digital government indicators. These figures reflect the massive investment the government has made in digital infrastructure and empowering Saudi youth, making the Kingdom a regional and international hub for technology and innovation.

Quality of life: Higher life expectancy and homeownership

Regarding quality of life indicators, a key component of the Vision 2030 program, Al-Dossari noted the rise in average life expectancy in the Kingdom to 79.7 years, compared to 74 years in 2016. This is a strong indicator of improved healthcare and medical services. He also confirmed that homeownership among Saudi families reached 65.4% by the end of last year, reflecting the success of the housing and financing solutions offered by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing.

Environment, Tourism and Entertainment

Environmentally, and as part of Saudi Arabia's green initiatives, nearly 85,000 seabirds have been documented and approximately 1,600 endangered wildlife species have been reintroduced, thus enhancing the Kingdom's biodiversity. In terms of soft power and tourism, Saudi citizens will be able to enter 31 countries without a visa or with special facilitations by 2025.

The conference also featured the participation of the Managing Director of Qiddiya Investment Company, Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Dawood, to talk about the developments of the Qiddiya project and the details of the "Six Flags" experiences, which are part of the Kingdom's strategy to diversify sources of income through the entertainment and tourism sectors.
