Riyadh Airlines, the new national carrier, has announced the launch of daily flights to Cairo, strengthening its regional network and confirming its role in achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

In a strategic move reflecting its ambitious goals, Riyadh Airlines , the new national carrier of Saudi Arabia, announced its selection of Cairo, the Egyptian capital, as its second regional destination and third within its growing international network. This announcement marks the launch of daily direct flights between King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh (RUH) and Cairo International Airport (CAI), establishing a new air bridge connecting two of the Arab world's largest capitals.

This move is particularly significant as it comes within the framework of the company's ambitious expansion plan, which aims to connect the Saudi capital with more than 100 global destinations by 2030. Tony Douglas, CEO of Riyadh Airlines, said: “Launching Cairo as our third destination after London and Dubai represents a new step in our journey towards connecting Riyadh to the world, and connecting the world to Riyadh.”.

A strategic context aligned with Vision 2030

The launch of this vital air route cannot be separated from the broader context of Saudi Vision 2030. Riyadh Airlines, established by the Public Investment Fund, plays a pivotal role in achieving the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy and the National Tourism Strategy. These strategies aim to transform the Kingdom into a global aviation and logistics hub, attracting 100 million visitors annually by the end of the decade. By enhancing air connectivity with key markets such as Egypt, Riyadh Airlines directly contributes to realizing these ambitious goals.

Historical and economic importance of the Riyadh-Cairo route

Saudi-Egyptian relations are characterized by deep historical, cultural, and economic ties, clearly reflected in the volume of travel between the two countries. The Riyadh-Cairo route is one of the busiest air routes in the region, with approximately 2.7 million passengers traveling between the two capitals. This route serves a diverse range of travelers, including businesspeople, tourists, pilgrims performing Umrah and Hajj, as well as the large Egyptian community residing in the Kingdom.

The introduction of Riyadh Airlines on this route is expected to increase seat capacity and foster healthy competition among airlines, benefiting passengers by providing wider choices and more competitive fares. It will also contribute to boosting tourism between the two countries and supporting trade and investment between the region's two largest economies.

A world-class travel experience

Riyadh Airlines promises an exceptional travel experience for its guests aboard its modern fleet of Boeing Dreamliner (B787-9) aircraft. These aircraft combine advanced operational efficiency with the latest digital technologies, while providing unprecedented levels of comfort and luxury for passengers. This commitment to quality is part of the company's strategy to solidify its position as a leading global airline based on innovation and authentic Saudi hospitality.
