The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continues its rapid progress towards comprehensive digital transformation, with the Ministry of Interior's "Absher" platform playing a pivotal role in facilitating the lives of citizens and residents. As part of its ongoing efforts to streamline government procedures and reduce the need for branch visits, the platform recently clarified the approved mechanism for renewing private driver's licenses, a service of great importance to a wide segment of families in the Kingdom.
Steps to renew a private driver's license
The “Absher” platform, through its official channels and FAQ guide, has specified that the process of renewing a private driver’s license is done entirely electronically and without complications, by following 4 basic steps that ensure the service is completed in a few minutes:
- Log in to the “Absher” electronic platform using your digital identity (username and password).
- Click on the “My Services” tab from the main menu.
- Select the “Traffic Services” icon.
- Click on the “Renew Driving License” option and follow the instructions to complete the process.
Digital Vehicle Plate Wallet Services
The services offered by Absher extend beyond licenses to include innovative vehicle management solutions. The platform provides a "Digital Vehicle Plate Wallet" service, enabling users to easily manage their plates. Absher explained via its X account that this service includes several important features:
- The ability to create a digital wallet specifically for the paintings.
- Add a license plate from an existing vehicle to the wallet.
- Keep a license plate from a vehicle that has been scrapped (for parts or export) in the wallet.
- Re-registering a license plate stored in the wallet on a new vehicle.
- Manage paintings purchased from online auctions and add them directly to the portfolio.
Record numbers reflect digital confidence
These services are part of a vast system of electronic transactions that are experiencing high demand. Official statistics revealed that the “Absher” platform processed more than 38 million electronic transactions (specifically 38,315,884 transactions) in November alone. This impressive figure reflects the significant reliance on digital services in the Kingdom and the success of the Ministry of Interior in automating procedures in line with the objectives of Vision 2030, which aims to improve quality of life and reduce bureaucracy, thus saving time and effort for millions of individuals and businesses.
