This initiative features inspiring panel discussions with Juliette Binoche, alongside the acclaimed Saudi director Shahad Ameen and actress and director Cherien Dabis . These sessions aim to discuss the challenges and opportunities available to female talent and to showcase support programs offered by international organizations to enhance their presence both in front of and behind the camera.
Cultural dimensions and global impact
This event is more than just an awards ceremony; it serves as a platform for cultural and intellectual exchange. Honorees such as Stanley Tong and Sigourney Weaver participate in open masterclasses, sharing their professional experiences and creative visions with young filmmakers and the public. This direct interaction is a golden opportunity for Saudi and Arab talent to benefit from established international expertise, contributing to honing their skills and raising the quality of local film production.
In this context, Faisal Baltayour , CEO of the Red Sea Film Foundation, affirmed that the selection of these honorees reflects the festival's commitment to celebrating pioneers who have enriched the cinematic landscape across generations, noting that their presence in Jeddah reinforces the festival's position as a bridge for human and artistic connection. For her part, Shivani Pandaya Malhotra , Executive Director of the festival, explained that the partnership with Kering and its support of over 400 women since its inception is a practical demonstration of the foundation's sustainable strategy to empower creative women in this vital sector.
