Exceptional efforts to provide copies of the Quran in the Grand Mosque
The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, through its Department of Qur'an and Book Affairs, is intensifying its operational efforts to ensure the readiness of prayer areas and the availability of approved copies of the Quran in all corridors and outer courtyards. These measures include meticulous monitoring of the condition of Qur'ans stored in the Grand Mosque's cabinets, continuously updating them with new copies, and replacing damaged or worn-out ones. The department has successfully provided more than 30,000 copies of the Quran since the beginning of Ramadan to serve those observing i'tikaf (seclusion for worship) and visitors. Historically, the holy month of Ramadan holds immense significance in Mecca, as the number of pilgrims to the Grand Mosque increases dramatically. This necessitates a full mobilization of resources to provide the highest quality services, reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's longstanding and unwavering commitment to serving the Two Holy Mosques.
Comprehensive care and meeting the needs of special groups
Efforts have expanded to include providing chairs for worshippers and Qur'an stands in funeral areas and visitor prayer areas, with a total of over 83,000 chairs secured to serve those visiting the Grand Mosque and facilitate their worship in an accessible environment. The administration also pays close attention to the diverse needs of worshippers from various nationalities by providing translations, commentaries, and different narrations in separate, organized cabinets. Particular attention is given to the elderly and people with disabilities, with services including the provision of large-format Qur'ans to facilitate reading and ensuring access to Braille Qur'ans in both print and digital formats for the visually impaired in their designated prayer areas. These measures aim to create an inclusive worship environment that guarantees every visitor access to the version that best suits their abilities and linguistic and physical needs.
Regular maintenance to ensure the quality of Qur'ans in the Grand Mosque
Field teams implement a comprehensive periodic maintenance plan that includes polishing the copper cabinets in coordination with the cleaning department, along with daily cleaning and sanitizing of the Qur'ans to ensure their safety and high quality for worshippers. The organizational work also extends to direct coordination with the Itikaf project to provide the prayer areas designated for those observing Itikaf with all necessary Qur'ans, translations, and narrations to support the spiritual atmosphere during the last ten days of Ramadan. This integrated system aims to enhance the Grand Mosque's aesthetic appeal and preserve its sacred relics in their finest condition.
Regional and international impact of caring for the Book of God
The meticulous care taken in providing certified copies of the Quran extends far beyond the local sphere, reaching a broad regional and international impact. Millions of pilgrims, Umrah performers, and visitors from all corners of the earth witness this profound attention, culminating in the efforts of the King Fahd Complex for Printing the Holy Quran, the globally trusted authority on printing the Book of God. This dedication sends a reassuring message to the entire Muslim world that the Two Holy Mosques offer an exemplary model in serving the Holy Quran, thus reinforcing the Kingdom's position as the beating heart of the Islamic world and the guardian of its sacred sites.
Protecting the Quranic text and controlling unauthorized copies
The administration continues its daily monitoring duties by identifying and removing unapproved copies of the Quran that are given as gifts by visitors through unofficial channels and handing them over to the relevant authorities. The total number of copies seized and removed since the beginning of Ramadan has exceeded 88,000. These strict measures aim to ensure that no copies that do not meet the approved standards are present within the Grand Mosque and to protect the Holy Quran from any printing errors that may be found in unofficial copies obtained from unreliable printing presses. These monitoring efforts demonstrate the utmost commitment to providing the best organized services that ensure worshippers can perform their rituals with complete peace and spirituality.
