The Culinary Arts Authority is preparing to launch the highly anticipated edition of the Popular Food Festival in the Al-Awamiyah Central Project (Al-Rams District) in Qatif Governorate, during the period from December 21 to 30, 2025. This prominent cultural event will extend over ten days, offering visitors an exceptional experience that highlights the depth and diversity of traditional Saudi culinary arts, in a framework that reflects the authenticity of local cuisine and enhances its active presence in the cultural scene of the Kingdom.

Reviving heritage in the heart of Qatif

The choice of Al-Rams neighborhood in the heart of Awamiyah to host this festival holds significant spatial and historical significance. Qatif Governorate is one of the oldest historical centers in the Eastern Province, distinguished throughout the ages by its unique geographical location that combines a coastal environment with rich agricultural oases. This unique blend has directly influenced the region's culinary heritage, making it the ideal place to showcase the diversity of Saudi cuisine. The festival aims to highlight this heritage as a fundamental pillar of national identity through live cooking demonstrations by a selection of local chefs showcasing their skills in preparing traditional dishes.

Diverse pavilions and interactive experiences

The festival is designed to offer a comprehensive sensory and educational journey, featuring six specialized pavilions showcasing a selection of innovative foods and beverages made with local Saudi ingredients. These pavilions allow visitors to explore traditional cooking techniques passed down through generations across the Kingdom, reflecting its rich environmental and geographical diversity. The festival also includes interactive cultural events that tell the historical stories associated with popular dishes, enriching the culinary experience and transforming it into a lesson in history and culture.

Family and tourist destination

The Culinary Arts Commission ensured the festival was a family-friendly destination, featuring a dedicated children's pavilion offering simplified educational and entertaining experiences about food culture, as well as interactive food tasting areas. The vibrant family atmosphere was further enhanced by authentic musical performances that reflected the spirit of the place and the warmth of Saudi hospitality.

Supporting the Kingdom's Vision 2030

The organization of the Qatif Popular Food Festival falls within the comprehensive strategy of the Culinary Arts Authority, which is in line with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. These efforts aim to transform culinary arts into a global cultural and tourism product, and to support initiatives that contribute to preserving, documenting and transmitting food heritage between generations, as well as supporting productive families and Saudi chefs, which enhances the economic and cultural value of popular foods in various regions of the Kingdom.
