His Excellency the Attorney General, Sheikh Saud bin Abdullah Al-Muajab, chaired today the periodic meeting of Their Excellencies the Heads of Regional Prosecutions, in the presence of Assistant Public Prosecutors and a number of prominent leaders in the agency, in a step that reflects the keenness of the judicial system to follow up on the progress of field work in various regions of the Kingdom.
At the outset of the meeting held in the Jazan region, His Excellency emphasized the continuous and unwavering support and attention given to the justice system by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz – may God protect them both. Sheikh Al-Muajeb noted that this support is the cornerstone of the rapid development witnessed by the Public Prosecution in its performance and operational indicators, thus strengthening its position as an independent body and reinforcing the concept of judicial independence, which is one of the most important objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 in developing the justice system.
In discussing organizational development, His Excellency the Attorney General noted that the Royal Decree establishing the Public Prosecution Council represented a qualitative and historic organizational leap forward for the institution. This step contributed to consolidating the legal framework for prosecutorial work and enhancing the effectiveness of institutional governance, thus ensuring the accuracy and transparency of procedures and aligning with international standards for the separation of powers and guaranteeing the impartiality of investigations and prosecutions.
His Excellency noted the importance of strengthening joint coordination with relevant government agencies, stressing the need to consolidate integrated work between the various state security and judicial bodies, in order to contribute to achieving the principle of "expeditious justice" and raising the efficiency of institutional performance to ensure the speed of deciding cases without compromising the accuracy of judgments.
Regarding rights and freedoms, His Excellency stressed the importance of expediting cases and streamlining procedures for beneficiaries in accordance with applicable regulations. He directed the intensification of monitoring and inspection tours of prisons and detention centers. He emphasized the importance of studying and directly observing the conditions of detainees and prisoners, and addressing their concerns promptly. This reflects the Kingdom's commitment to upholding human rights and ensuring humane treatment in accordance with Islamic law and local regulations.
This meeting comes within the framework of reviewing performance results and annual achievement rates, discussing mechanisms for developing penal procedures, in addition to approving regulatory recommendations that contribute to enhancing the efficiency of parliamentary work at the level of all regions of the Kingdom, to ensure a safe and stable legal environment that supports comprehensive national development.
