A time-honored Ramadan tradition with a modern twist
The iftar meals provided at the Prophet's Mosque are a deeply rooted Islamic tradition, reflecting the values of generosity, solidarity, and love encouraged by Islam. Throughout history, the courtyards of the Prophet's Mosque have witnessed the gathering of thousands of Muslims from around the world to break their fast together in a profoundly spiritual atmosphere that strengthens the bonds of faith. In the past, these meals were organized through individual and voluntary efforts, but with the increasing number of visitors, the need arose for a well-structured organizational framework to ensure everyone's safety and maintain the cleanliness and sanctity of the place.
Organizational importance and societal impact
Organizing the provision of breakfast meals through official permits is a strategic step to ensure the quality of service provided to pilgrims. This mechanism ensures the safety of the meals and their compliance with health standards, in addition to regulating the distribution of food to designated areas within the mosque and its courtyards, thus preventing overcrowding and ensuring the smooth flow of crowds. Locally, this initiative contributes to stimulating economic activity in Medina by contracting with local catering companies, and it also opens the door for citizens and residents to participate in an organized charitable endeavor that serves millions of visitors.
International and humanitarian message
The Iftar project at the Prophet's Mosque holds immense international significance, as the mosque receives millions of visitors and pilgrims from around the world during Ramadan. Providing them with Iftar meals is not merely a charitable act, but a message of welcome and generosity that reflects the civilized image of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its leading role in serving the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors. This unique experience leaves a profound and positive impact on visitors, reinforces the Kingdom's position as the beating heart of the Islamic world, and aligns with the goals of Vision 2030, which aims to enrich the religious and cultural experience of pilgrims.
