The “Philippine Cultural Days” festival kicked off this evening in Riyadh, the capital, at the renowned Al-Suwaidi Park, as part of the second edition of the “Global Harmony” initiative. This initiative is organized by the Ministry of Media in strategic partnership with the General Entertainment Authority, under the umbrella of the “Quality of Life” program, one of the key programs of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, and was attended by a large audience of visitors and residents.
Promoting cultural exchange and coexistence
This event holds special significance beyond mere entertainment, reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment to fostering human coexistence and cultural exchange among the diverse communities residing within its borders. The Filipino community is one of the largest in the Kingdom, having made significant contributions to its economic and social development for decades. These cultural days aim to highlight this harmony, showcase shared values, and offer visitors a unique opportunity to explore the rich Filipino cultural heritage, customs, and traditions without the need to travel.
A visual and auditory journey into Philippine heritage
The event offers an immersive sensory experience. On the first day, visitors enjoyed concerts by a selection of top Filipino artists and influencers, featuring over 70 performers who presented a creative blend of traditional melodies and modern rhythms. Alongside the music, cultural pavilions and bazaars showcasing vibrant and intricately designed traditional Filipino clothing were scattered throughout the park, allowing visitors to try on these garments and take memorable photos in a festive and joyful atmosphere that enhanced the visual experience of the event.
Handicrafts and authentic taste
The event also highlighted the traditional crafts for which the Philippines is renowned, providing dedicated spaces for artisans to give live demonstrations. These included seashell carving, accessory making, and intricate handicrafts, showcasing the skill of Filipino artisans. Filipino cuisine also had a strong presence, with popular food stalls offering the most famous traditional dishes, allowing visitors to sample new flavors and learn about Asian food culture firsthand.
Ongoing activities and a family-friendly atmosphere
The four-day Filipino cultural events are part of the 49-day "Global Harmony" series, which aims to highlight the Kingdom's rich cultural diversity. The initiative places a special emphasis on children and families, featuring over 200 diverse activities including a puppet theater, a "Happiness Theater," a "Color Tent," recreational games, and photo booths. This makes Al-Suwaidi Park an ideal destination for family outings during Riyadh Season 2025, and an opportunity to learn about the success stories of expatriates and their active role in society.
