Strategic participation of the National Center for Meteorology
The National Center of Meteorology is actively participating in the second edition of the World Defense Show 2024, which opened in Riyadh, underscoring its pivotal role as a strategic partner in supporting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's defense and security systems. This participation reflects the Center's commitment to showcasing its advanced technological capabilities and specialized services that meet the needs of both the military and civilian sectors.
Background and importance of the World Defence Exhibition
The World Defence Exhibition (WDE), established and organized by the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), is a leading global platform that brings together major companies and decision-makers in the defense and security sector from around the world. Held biennially, the exhibition aims to highlight the future of the defense industry by showcasing the latest technological advancements across five defense domains: land, sea, air, space, and security. WDE also represents a key pillar in achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, particularly with regard to localizing more than 50% of the Kingdom's military spending by 2030 and strengthening its position as a global hub for defense industries.
Advanced technologies and logistical support
The National Center of Meteorology is showcasing its latest meteorological technologies at its dedicated pavilion at the exhibition, including advanced radar systems, high-resolution numerical weather prediction models, and AI-powered solutions for analyzing climate data. As the exclusive weather and climate information provider for the event, the center is offering specialized meteorological services to support air navigation and ensure the safety of air shows and ground demonstrations throughout the exhibition, providing accurate and vital data to support the operational processes of participants and stakeholders.
The strategic impact of meteorology in the military sector
The importance of meteorological information extends far beyond daily forecasts, playing a crucial role in the success of military operations. Accurate weather data, such as wind speed and direction, visibility levels, and sea conditions, directly impacts the planning and execution of air, sea, and land missions. This data contributes to enhancing flight safety, guiding missile systems, securing troop movements on the ground, and supporting reconnaissance and surveillance operations. Through its participation, the center highlights this strategic importance, emphasizing that meteorological superiority is an integral part of a nation's overall defense readiness.
