The Ministry of Education is including a specialized Artificial Intelligence Department within its new organizational structure, in a move aimed at enhancing digital transformation and keeping pace with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

In a strategic move reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment to keeping pace with global technological advancements, the Ministry of Education has established a specialized Artificial Intelligence Department within its new organizational structure. This announcement, made through the updated version of the organizational guide, "Guide to Objectives and Tasks," issued in Jumada al-Awwal 1447 AH, represents a pivotal turning point in the Ministry's journey towards enhancing digital transformation and adopting the latest technologies to improve the efficiency of the education system.

A national context that supports digital innovation

This decision is not isolated from the Kingdom's general direction, but rather aligns with the core objectives of Vision 2030, which places great emphasis on the data and artificial intelligence sector. Through its national strategies, the Kingdom seeks to become a global hub for technology and innovation, with education being the cornerstone for building a generation capable of utilizing the tools of the future. The establishment of this department demonstrates clear integration with the efforts led by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), further solidifying the Kingdom's position as a leader in leveraging technology for human development.

New management goals and expected impact

The new administrative entity aims to systematically employ smart solutions for analyzing big educational data, thereby enhancing strategic planning and evidence-based decision-making. This approach is expected to have a wide-ranging positive impact, extending beyond administration to include improving the learning environment, personalizing learning experiences, and fostering technological innovation within schools and universities, ultimately enhancing the future readiness of educational institutions.

Data governance and institutional integration

In addition to establishing an Artificial Intelligence Department, the updated organizational guide includes strengthening the role of the Data Management Office and closely linking it to the digital transformation framework. This step aims to ensure the governance of educational data and improve its quality of use, thereby achieving effective integration between different digital systems and platforms. The guide also clarifies the organizational relationship between digital transformation units, e-learning channels, and cybersecurity, within a framework designed to enhance the quality of digital services and increase the efficiency of operational processes, while maintaining the stability of the ministry's overall structure and distributing responsibilities to ensure the continuity of work and its phased development.
