Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Engineer Mansour Al-Mashiti, chaired a virtual meeting to enhance food supply chains, with the participation of government and private entities. The aim was to ensure the sustainability of agricultural production and increase self-sufficiency rates, in line with the goals of Vision 2030. The coordination meeting saw broad participation from the heads of specialized committees within the Federation of Saudi Chambers, as well as prominent government bodies, including the Food and Drug Authority, the Food Security Authority, and the Prevention Authority. Participants discussed mechanisms for coordinating joint efforts between the public and private sectors to implement best agricultural practices that guarantee the stability of local markets and meet consumer needs. Supply sustainability

The attendees discussed building an effective government communication network to ensure the sustainability of supplies and to address any challenges that may hinder the delivery of agricultural products to the end user.

The participants appreciated the unlimited government support that resulted in qualitative leaps in record time, as the contribution of the agricultural sector to the gross domestic product jumped to 114 billion riyals by the end of 2024.

Many agricultural crops and local products recorded historic self-sufficiency rates exceeding 100%, which strengthened the position of national food security.
