This achievement cannot be viewed in isolation from the general context of the development of the health sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as the “Doctor for Every Family” program is one of the main pillars of the new healthcare model emanating from the Health Sector Transformation Program, one of the programs of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. This model aims to restructure health services to be based primarily on primary and preventive care, instead of relying entirely on hospitals and advanced treatment, thus ensuring the sustainability of services and raising the efficiency of government spending.
Workforce details and geographic distribution
The Makkah Health Cluster explained that these extensive services were delivered by 331 qualified medical teams, comprising specialized personnel including 484 physicians and 353 nurses. These teams worked within an integrated system across various specialties, utilizing multiple channels including in-person services alongside remote virtual services, thus facilitating access to care.
These human resources were distributed across 110 health centers in Makkah and Al-Qunfudhah Governorate, where direct communication channels and digital services were activated, ensuring a rapid response to health needs and reducing waiting lists, which represents a radical solution to the challenges of overcrowding in hospital emergency rooms.
