Starting in January 2026, the Public Transport Authority will require parcel delivery companies to use the national address as a prerequisite for receiving shipments. Learn more about the decision and how to obtain the address.

The Public Transport Authority confirmed that, starting tomorrow, Thursday, January 1, 2026, it will begin enforcing the mandatory decision prohibiting all licensed parcel delivery companies from receiving or transporting any postal shipment that does not include national address . This decisive decision comes as part of the Authority's ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency of the logistics sector and improve the quality of services provided to both citizens and residents.

A strategic step towards advanced logistics services

This decision represents a significant leap forward for the Kingdom's logistics sector. Its primary aim is to eliminate subjective interpretations in delivery processes and reduce unnecessary and repeated calls between delivery personnel and customers inquiring about the delivery address. By fully relying on the national address system, the authority ensures faster delivery times and the highest standards of accuracy and efficiency in operations. This will positively impact the final customer experience and reduce the number of returned or delayed shipments due to unclear addresses.

The economic and organizational importance of the decision

The impact of this decision extends beyond the regulatory sphere to encompass significant economic dimensions. With the rapid growth of the e-commerce sector in the Kingdom, a precise address infrastructure has become essential. The national address system is a cornerstone of the Kingdom's digital infrastructure, facilitating trade and reducing operational costs for transport companies resulting from wasted time and fuel searching for inaccurate locations. This approach supports the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy , which aims to solidify the Kingdom's position as a global logistics hub connecting three continents and promote sustainability within the transport sector.

Rapid growth in the postal transport sector

Statistical data indicates the enormous scale of work in this sector. The Public Transport Authority previously revealed that the number of postal shipments delivered during the past Ramadan alone exceeded 26 million, marking an 18% increase compared to the previous year. This massive volume of operations necessitates extremely precise data accuracy to ensure shipments do not accumulate or arrive late, a task precisely facilitated by the National Address System.

How to obtain a national address

The authority urged all beneficiaries to ensure their national address is activated and in use, noting how easily it can be obtained or verified through approved government digital channels, which include:

  • "Absher" application and platform.
  • The "Tawakkalna" application.
  • "My Health" app.
  • "Subul" platform and application (Saudi Post).

This measure is a necessary step to avoid shipments being refused by carriers starting tomorrow, and to ensure that purchases and parcels reach their correct destination as quickly as possible.
